Young Professionals (YPs) - Training Program in collaboration with INCID and ICID

Background: The Central Water Commission (CWC), India- European Union (EU) Water Partnership (IEWP) Action, Phase 2 and International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) are jointly organizing a one-day Young-Professional Training Program (YP-TP), as an event during 25th International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) Congress, scheduled from November 01, 2023, to November 08, 2023, in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh, India. Under the framework of the India-EU Water Partnership Action, YP-TP aims to bring together young professionals (YP) in the field of water, agriculture, and other allied subject, from EU Member States, Africa, and India towards joint learnings and exchanges. The focus will be on the maximum participation of female YPs.

Additionally, IEWP Action plans to host a dedicated side-event to showcase the activities, success stories, and valuable insights gained from Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the IEWP Action. This collaborative engagement promises to enrich ICID Congress and contribute significantly to the advancement of irrigation and drainage practices on a global scale. It is envisioned that young professionals will participate in the events of the ICID Congress which will foster knowledge exchange, promote cross-cultural collaboration, and encourage the adoption of sustainable water management practices.

Time and Duration: 4 Days during the ICID Congress (02-05 Nov 2023).

Participants: 10 Female participants of which 5 will be from the EU Member States and 5 from the African countries (to be identified by ICID). 10 additional participants (preferably Women) from Indian Government and other institutions will be identified by CWC and their costs will be borne by the respective institutions. (Aim to encourage higher participation of women young professionals).

Key Learnings and Focus Area: The theme of the YP-TP is ‘Managing Water Resources towards achieving Water Security for Improved Livelihood and Sustainable Development’.
